    Hello and welcome!

When you go to reinstall, choose the manual partitioning option and choose to use the partitions that you've already created for Linux. The installer should format and use them for the new install. As for endangering your Windows install, there is a potential for data loss any time you are manipulating partitions, so be sure to have a backup on hand so that you can restore it should the worst happen.
