    SATA Raid on Asus K8V-X

    Hi all,

I just got from a local reseller an Asus K8V-X motherboard, I broke my pig to get some coins to buy 2 x 120 GB SATA HD as I have noticed that this motherboard has a SATA RAID controler.

Does anyone experienced to install or Fedora C3 or Suse Pro 9.2 on this hardware with RAID 1 on 2 SATA HD ?

Many thanks, merry christmas and happy new year to you

    Francois X.

I have successfully installed SuSE 9.2 Pro on my ASUS K8V-X using one 80GB Seagate SATA drive. I haven't tried RAID however.

The RAID controller wont be a true RAID controler it will more then likely be software RAID so it will need Windows to work (like my A7V600) so you will need to use software RAID provided by the kernel (The overhead on the CPU should not be noticeable with moderen machines) there are lots of good tutorials on setting it up on Google.
