i was just reading the install file for tiny linux and it does go from floppies to get you ready to install from a modem or from a lap link to another computer. i dont have this. Man this really sucks i dont think i will ever get linux on my system. damn damn damn

You might also want to have a look at this (slackware 8.1)

I'm not sure you will be able to run X with that distro, but it does have a few GUI things such as the web browser.

hey thanks for all your help. i think i am going to use the zipslack it is broken up into seperate files for floppy disks. There are a crap load of them, but to get ride of windows i am willing to make the sacrifice. i am hoping i can get my syquest drive to mount to my other pc that has the net hooked up and then i will just download it to there and then copy it to the HDD of my laptop. Man laptops with out a CD rom really blow

Or you can get the ISO images of the CD's via bittorent http://www.slackware.com/torrents/ which IMO is the best way to download distros!!
