    Hello and Welcome!

Could you provide a little more info?
What version of Linux were you trying to install? What method were you using?

    Sure,
    It is UBUNTU 9.10
I put the CD in the drive and selected the drive I want to install it on. It goes on well, but in the middle of installation it gives this error and it says it has encountered error404 and for more information go to appdata/local/temp/wubi-9.10ubuntu1-rev160.log
I already have Wind7 in my laptop and want to have UBUNTU too.

9.10 is quite old and no longer supported. I would advise a newer version.
Also, no CD is needed for a Wubi install. Just download the installer program, launch it and it will retrieve the install image.

May be Ubuntu is trying to download some files. If you could specify the details of problem, it might help. And Jay is right, you should switch to current supported version like 12.04 LTS.
