    printer- and scanner drivers


    hey all , i have some hardware but there are no drivers for linux , is it possible to make them work ?

    specific info:

    OS Mandrake 10.1
    level : noob

    scanner :Medion MD 6228 look at THIS (windows drivers)
    printer: Lexmark color jetprinter P704 (p700 series) , drivers only excist for Mac and Windows ...possible drivers

    Are your printers and scanner used on the USB ports? If they are, try plugging one in restart the machine and see it gets picked up.

    yes, both are USB and theye are detected , but with a wrong name

    Well good, have you used Drake to try setting up the printer from the list? If the printer is not on the list by name, do try the others in the list under Lexmark, from the old days my Canon S450s worked with the drivers for the BJ6000 printer. You may have to do the same thing with the scanner also.
