Screensaver issues
It's been a week or so since I registered with this forum and I find that I am using Linux more than XP these days. I really enjoy Linux and I will install it on my work machine as well. I guess my manager won't mind as long as I have XP running in a VM.
Anyway, this is not the reason for my post.
I would like a screensaver if I am using it as my main OS and I can't get it to go.
I can see a list of screensavers but I am not able to test them ( I assume they are installed). The little monitor stays blank.
My screen becomes blank as well after the configured time ellapses.
I have read other posts on screensavers. One of the posts said to enable 3d acceleration.
I don't have the option to check that box.

You aren't logging in as root, are you? If you are, that will make perfectly sure your screensaver won't work; log in as a user instead. If you already are logging in as a user, try disabling the fading option if you're using GNOME. If you're using KDE, I don't know what to do.
