modem despair to where!
hiya
Sorry if i'm being extremley dense but......
I've put red hat 9 on my pc, it's installed sweet as a nut :P , except it hasn't picked up my modem (Conexant HSF 56K data fax).
I've found the drivers for it at linmodem.com and transfered them on the pc but I'm a bit unsure on how to install them
. Is it best to go into Terminal or double click the actual file?
Thanks for reading.

I don't think you'll get very far by double clicking it. Use a shell and untar the file (It _is_ a .tar.gz, right? If it's an RPM, you can just double-click it.) with "tar -xvzf filename". When you have done so, you'll probably find installation instructions inside.

I've installed the modem and it's working sweet as!!!!!
the only thing that concern's me is there is no mention of it in the hardware browser. Is this normal?

The hardware browser is really nothing but an attempt to get something which looks like Windows' hardware browser. Just ignore it.
