How do I install Linux on a UEFI computer?

... such as these new Win 8 machines..? What exactly do I need to do? Is there a guide on the web somewhere?

There's actually quite a bit of information available out there for this.
A quick Google search will show you more than a few hits.
Here's one quick search: See here.

I do not respond to private messages asking for Linux help. Please keep it on the public boards.

I can be found either 40 miles west of Chicago, in Chicago, or in a galaxy far, far away.
What Jayd says is correct, but it is STILL a PITA. If it is an x86 system, then you can disable secure boot in the bios. If it is ARM, then you will have to jump through hoops and use a properly "signed" OS and associated drivers to boot linux. As far as I'm concerned, "secure boot" EFI systems are Microsludge's way of locking people into their BDOS (brain-dead operation systems)...
Sometimes, real fast is almost as good as real time.
