modem problem in Mandrake
I have installed Mandrake 9 and i think it recognizes the 56k modem but i cant get it to work. The only serial ports in /dev are ttyS0 and ttyS4. I think I have set the modem to be on ttyS4 with 'setserial' and there is no option to select ttyS4 in kppp or gnome-ppp. Is there any way i can add ttyS4 to the list, or how can i link /dev/modem to ttyS4 instead of ttyS3? If these ways are not possible, how can i make a ttyS3 file?

What do you mean that you only _have_ ttyS0 and ttyS4? Are you using devfs or something?
Anyway, can't you just enter /dev/ttyS4 into that box just as if it were a text entry field? If neither works, try just setting up your PPP settings manually.
