    the preliminaries of a fresh install of linux on a notebook

    what do i need to do in order to do a fresh install of linux.

    i need to save the mails (tbird)
    i need to save the data as all the passwords for tbird-enigma and things like that


    as for the new installation:
    should i do the partition with gparted or how !?

    in order to do a fresh install, you need a CD or DVD of some distro. which one do you have? i would suspect that all of them let you do the partitioning as part of the install proces....
    i have no idea about any of the tbird stuff....
