how do i find essid?
Hello there,
I was about to install Ubuntu Linux in my laptop. I already partitioned my hard drive disk so that I have about 10GB of storage space for the installation. I was actually wondering what is this ESSID (for the wireless network configuration). Where can I find this ESSID? Thank you in advance.

do not worry about the ESSID. that is usually detected automatically when you probe for an ip address using DHCP. But the ESSID is the ID for the wifi network you wish to connect to. This shouldn't be a problem unless there are multiple networks in the area.

thank you....just one more question
Hello Lakerdonald,
Thank you very much for your reply, I appreciate it. Another problem I have with the installation is related to partitioning the hard drive disk. I have already made a 10GB space for ubuntu (ext2), using PartitionMagic, and I don't know what to do. I am sure that I don't want to completely erase my 40GB hard drive, so I selected the option where I get to manually partition the hard drive. What am I exactly do here? I just have no clue.
Thanx in advance.
