Help with Workaround for Unsupported Video Card

Hello,

I just purchased a new Dell Dimension 2350.
The system came with an integrated video card (Intel 845GL, 32mb, 350mhz).

When I attempt to load Redhat 8.0, the installer finds the monitor and video card with no problems. When the installer tries to bring up the graphical portion of the installation, an error message is displayed stating "Cannot display in this video mode". It suggests upgrading XFree86...????

So, I did the text based install and ran Xconfigurator after the installation. I got the same results.

Does anyone know a good way to get around this? Maybe selecting a different video card in XConfigurator??
I am trying to deal with dell to disable the onboard video card, but that is not looking good.

Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Mike

Try running "X -configure" (and follow the inctructions that it gives you), and see what that gives you.
