eicon usb modem , I have the correct driver but..

Hi,

I have an ADSL EICON DIVA USB modem, I got the drivers there :
http://www.prout.be/eicon

I extracted the tar.gz file in my directory (the tar file contained 2 directories : usermode and doc) , I connected as root, entered in the good directory and tried to do as they say :

$ cd usermode
$ make
$ make install

but I get an error message "unknown command"

Thank you for your help.

precision

Well I feel like this previous message is a little too short..

I omitted to say that the driver has not been developped by the company but by a generous user. Apparently, he adapted an ECI modem driver (which contain the same chips) to fit with the eicon diva usb.

And the readme file has been written for the ECI modem.

why the command 'make' and 'make install' doesn't work?

My distribution : GNU/Linux Mandrake 9.0 GNOME

I look forward to connect to the internet with linux, your help will be very appreciated.

you need to install the standard buildchain tools as they say. This includes make, autoconf, gcc, and/or glibc-devel (for a short list).

don't worry about your questions being to "easy". Nothing is easy till you do it once or twice.
