I have installed just for a couple of days ago and i think it looks great, its good thinking behind the dist. You also learning linux in a much deaper perspective then if you install Redhat or Mandrake from their installations...i also running redhat by the way both 7.3 and 9 which workes good.

    But try gentoo...its great.

I like it. It seems to be alot faster on my computer than the other distros I've tried. I would definetly say try it. It takes a little while to get everything compiled and setup, but its worth the wait.

yup, I had it installed a while back also.
It's worth it just for the sheer experience, just be patient and be willing to read the install guide in a very thorough manner.
one of the absolute best things about gentoo - "emerge"!

I installed it some time ago, but I ended up with going back to RedHat. It wasn't that I didn't like Gentoo, though. On the contrary, I like it much more than I've ever liked RedHat. It's just that I've rebuilt my RedHat system so much since I installed it, and I really didn't feel like doing it all again. Someday, I will most probably convert completely, though, so I'd certainly encourage you to try it!
