college laptop
Im going to be buying a laptop pretty soon for college. I need somthing fairly powerful, as i dont want to have to upgrade too often while im at school. Im thinking about just going all out and buying myself the new alienware area51-m laptop. If i get this laptop and want it to dual-boot to linux, (probably slackware) will mostly everything be supported? also, if anyone knows of any other good, high-proformance laptops, that'd be great to know too.
thanks!

not sure about alienware, but they do look nice
hp and compaq are usually nightmares
I hear ibm is pretty good though.
I would check the distros homepage and see if there is a hardware compatibility - there is for red hat here:

I ran gentoo on a dell inspiron 8100 and 8200 without any problems at all. I am not sure what your budget is, but I got a powerhouse for a really good price.
