Red Hat Icons!
I know that it may sound stupid and its not a question that you see often in such forums which are more into technical stuff but i would like to know how can i rename the drives icons so when i mount them i don't get floppy1 or CD-ROM1 & cd-rom but something like Floppy, CD-RW, DVD-ROM.

just right click on them and enter a different name
although it sounds like you are using gnome, so you might have to try to edit your gnome menu items names.
I don't really use gnome so I am not sure exactly.
I take it you don't like KDE? Too bad, I think KDE is much better than gnome. To each his own though.
