    Linux Fonts!

I just installed Mandrake linux 9.1 and i noticed that although the fonts used by the distro itself are looking good when i log in as root or use a programm such as gaim or xmms the fonts used by the programms look like ****. Isn't there a way to make everything to use the fonts that the distro uses like windows do? I also want to know if this goes for RH9.
    Thanks in advance.

I haven't examined fonts too much, but as far as I'm aware, it depends on the program in question. However, the fonts in both XMMS and Gaim should, note should, be possible to make good-looking if you recompile GTK+ with Xft support.

Say, I got a question regarding fonts. How can I load an image in this forum?
