    Sound Card Question

    Greets to teh Linux folks

I have this salvaged PC sitting in my room (100% free parts , except for the NIC and switch) and I pretty much spend all my time on it. One thing: it hasn't got a sound card yet, and I'd really like one.

So I was looking through a price list lying around and saw a nice el-cheapo sound card (I'm not up for the greatest and latest sound card, my wallet's a bit thin for that). I don't know whether it'll work under Linux, though.

    A-Open AW840L 4.1 PCI sound card, AS9400 chipset

I've scanned the Hardware-HOWTO and the net, but there isn't any references that help me with this question. Does anyone here know anything or have experience under Linux with this sound card?

    Thanks in advance.

did you check out the ALSA drivers page? They have a pretty good list of what they support, and they support most everything

Looks like their server's down at the moment... at least, I can't get to it. I'll take a look later. Thanks anyway.

Only got round to checking the site now... doesn't look like it's supported... d'you think it would work with another driver (SB compatible-type thing), or should I just try to get another one?

    ...

Would probably just be easier for me to get another one. Thanks anyway.
