NVIDIA drivers for Redhat 9
HI all..
i have recently installed RedHat 9 with kernel with kernel version 2.4.20-8, i have downloaded and tried to install the drivers which are availble from NVIDIA web site. but as of now i am not able to get the Ethernet interface running.
when i try to configure the interface eth0 and try to activate it, it gives error " eth0 doesn't exist! delaying initialization".
I had installed Mandrake 9.1 before installing redhat 9, the drivers for that from the nvidia site they ran fine and i never had any issues with Mandrake drivers.
But for last 2 days i am getting really frustrated with redhat... I really want to use redhat for some stuff that i am working and that is compatible only with Redhat...
I wou;ld reallly appreciate if someone could help me out...
Thanks

what card is it?
have you checked the red hat hardware compatibility list?
have you tried running kudzu at startup?
if not, do this in the terminal and post it here:
Code:/sbin/ifconfig /sbin/lspci

have you checked the red hat hardware compatibility list? I didn't Check before i Installed the RedHat , but on Nvidia site, there are drivers for the RedHat 9 Kernel version: 2.4.20.6 & 2.4.20-9 but not for Kernel version 2.4.20.8, which is what i am running.
have you tried running kudzu at startup? No, I will try that in the Evening

That can't be. The GeForce cards are video cards, not ethernet cards.

yes, but i have heard of people having problems with certain devices including their nics, it *shouldn't* be, but sometimes it is.
is your nic onboard? is it an nforce chipset?

My Mistake: The Ether net Card is: nvnet ( it is from NVIDIA & not the GeForce2)
and secondly i did ge the drivers from certain site, which site, i don't remember, that was something i got while browsing to answers in other forums for ( NVIDIA forum).
that set the ethernet drivers for the Kerlnel version 8.4.20-8 and it also works for 8.4.20-9.
so anyone having issues with nvnet ether net cars... search for NVIDIA forum and see the site in that...
Thanks all who have answered or viewed this post..
Ashish
