I have never used slackware myself but do you have any of these files??
/etc/sysconfig/network
/etc/sysconfig/net-scripts/ifcfg-eth0
If so check in them..

Otherise, inject the module manually and set up the card with ifconfig.

Look in /etc/rc.d/rc.modules
Get down to the "Network device support" and uncomment the module you will be using
