cannot mount my cdrom

i made it, and after the reboot of course i tried to mount the cd ... unsucessfully
the message now is very similar to the old one, just the last words are different:
(in spanish)

No se pudo montar el dispositivo.
El mensaje de error fue:
mount: /dev/cdrom: no es un dispositivo de bloques válido

i would translate the last words as
"it's not a valid blocks device"
but i'm not sure about the word blocks ...

what do you think?

Now that's strange; that really should have worked. It's almost as if it didn't want to load sr_mod properly. Run these commands (as root) and check the output:

ls -l /dev/scd0
modprobe sr_mod
tail /var/log/messages
cat /proc/devices

i had made an error on the lines added to /etc/modules.conf ... excuse me
now i wrote it right ... and WORKED !!! I CAN NOW MOUNT MY CD-RW !!!

i must say that you are a genius but you probably know it

and of course I'm enormously grateful to you. If you need something in Spain, you know who you should write to.

What did I tell you about this forum? I pretty much knew that Dolda would be the one solving your problem. I think it's safe to say that he solves around 95% of the problems posted on this forum. What will we ever do if he decided not to sign on...

I'm no expert. I just tried to help him out with the way I fixed my problem. Dolda on the other hand definetly IS an expert.
