You installed XP on the first partition. Then you installed Fedora Core 1(Redhat stopped making personal distros after 9) on the 2nd partition.
FC will boot up up ok?
But XP gives you an error when you try to boot, do I have it right?

What is the error that XP gives you?

Could you post the contents of grub.conf
    less /boot/grub/grub.conf

also worth noting that if you have problems such as suse accidentally deleting valuable windows files then just use the windows recovery (not the console, the reinstall option) and everything should be fine.
