Doesn't the kernel modprobe automagically when it misses the filesystem driver, or is it just as I've always assumed?

Diff Distro
Hi
I was using mandrake 8 which mounted my NTFS partition no problem.
I used to right click on the desktop in GNOME and choose Disks / WINDOWS or something like that anyway. and it would load up perfectly.
Also. I then used partition magic to shrink my win partition and created a small fat partition just for transfering files between Linux and XP.

I wouldn't promise anything about partition magic, though. In my experience it is very error-prone when dealing with NTFS disks. Note that an error means that you probably lose that file system, so I would recommend against it.
