communicate with SCO unix
Hi,
I set up a Linux Print server using RH 9 version.
I have a Windows Box and a SCO Unix box in the same network as the Linux box.
I can ping the windows box...but am unable to ping the SCO unix...
ICMP messages are sent and the messages I get are " destination host unreachable"
need suggestions from u guys.

Run route -n and make sure you have a route to the correct network.

In my experience, it says "network unreachable" when you don't have the right route set up, and the "destination host unreachable" is usually created by the kernel when it decides that ping requests to a neighboring host have timed out. Therefore, it would seem that the network connection is simply lost. Have you checked so that the NIC actually is properly connected to the network?
I must agree with genlee, though: boycott SCO! You do know what they're doing, right?

Re: communicate with SCO unix
Wel in my option is " destination host unreachable " a net ID which can't be reached. This may appear when:

No, when you don't have a route for the destination network, you get a "network unreachable" error, not "destination host unreachable". I just tried it myself, so I know for sure now.

Don't support SCO ever, those bastards are trying to ruin Linux. I say ship the cd back to them and get your moneys worth back.
It's a **** distribution anyway
