installing suse over mandrake (not looking for distro opinions)
I am dual booting mandrake 10.1 with Windows at the moment and was wondering if there is anything special I have to do when replacing Mandrake with Suse 9.2.
Do I reinstall the bootloader when installing Suse? (currently have lilo)
Is it a good idea to reformat the partitions before installing or just install over existing partitions? Mandrake is running entirely on an extended partition right now. Will suse do the same?
Basically just want to try some different flavours

I'd install Suse to the same partitions as where you had Mandrake. Mandrake uses Lilo by default and Suse uses grub. I'd install grub to the MBR to overwrite Lilo.

I agree with Dan - be sure to let Suse install GRUB over LILO, and yes, the same partitions will work. Also, be sure to let Suse format them. You shouldn't have any problems...
