root partition???

hi all!
i am trying to install fedora core 1 and it asks me for defining a root partition...
i hav no idea wat it means; can somebody help????

Well ... you need a root partition for the install to ... 'install' i suppose

generally people do the following partition format

/boot = 100M (to be safe)
SWAP = double your ram (approx)
/ = root partition ... the rest of your drive

/ is equiv to c:/ in windows
/boot is where the kernel lives
swap is the same as in windows, a section of the drive the OS uses if RAM is used up.
