Will boot but won't installfrom cd
Hi!
This is the unsolved part of a partially solved previous post.
The problem is that I recently installed XP. Got grub reinstalled with some difficulty ( with help from Knoppix and eugrus ). The computer boots from the linux installation cd's but after selecting the keyboard and language. It says it can't find the cd's in the drives.
I was hoping to try out FreeBSD, but am stuck now.
Thanks

OK Nand,
I'll try to help but first we need some information:
What Distro are you trying to install?
Did you buy the CD/DVD or download it(them)?
If you downloaded, what program did you use to burn it(them)?
If you downloaded, where and what did you use to do it?
One last Question, is your BIOS set to boot from CD/DVD?

I have tried multiple distros.
One I got from a magazine. Thats the one I am using right now. I have mandrake 10.1 on a dvd but since I don't have a dvd drive I burned the ISO images on cd using Nero. I have used those cds to install mandrake on my friend's. That's not a problem.
And yes my bios is set to boot from cd.

What is your CPU architecture? Are you possibly trying the wrong type (For example, your friends all have Pentium 4's and you have an Athlon 64)? Can you specify exactly what Distro (Name, Version, Architecture, Downloaded or bought) you are installing on and the specs of the target computer?
