Has anyone ever tried a different X server than XFree86?

I am having the hardest time getting an xserver to work on my new laptop. It is an Evo N1000c. I posted earlier about my problems but haven't come up with any good answers.

Does anyone know of an Xserver that will support the ATI Radeon Mobility 7500 chip and won't cost an arm or leg to purchase?

    :P

XFree86 has trouble with some of the newer chipsets sometimes, but no other XServer even comes close to the support XFree86 offers.

    Support is great

The support is great but unless a programmer out there working on the project has what I have, more or less, I am in a wait cycle. I figure in a couple months I will be able to find this somewhere on the net. Nothing as of yet

or until ATI releases the specs. You want a driver? Write to ATI to tell them to release the specifications to their hardware to the people in the community so you can use their product without having to go through a commercial vendor like Microsoft or you will take your business elsewhere. Money talks.
