    networking error

    Hi,
While installing the drivers for my ethernet card (INTEL 100 PRO VE) on Mandrake 9.0 (dual boot with XP), I got this message :

Makefile :95 ; Linux kernel source not found. Stop.

This message was got after unzipped, tarred, changed directories to the ./src directory and then gave the command, 'make install'. The driver is actually for an older kernet. However, the Intel webpage says that these drivers are known to work for 2.4x kernels upto 2.4-20. So, I don't know what is going wrong.

Would appreciate it if someone could help me out with this.

    the command is ifconfig

    next run
    uname -r
to find out what kernel u have

also check that u have the kernel sources installed in /usr/src/linux

i owud be especially suspicious of my last suggestion...
