Installing/booting from external hard drives
Sorry if this is a duplicate or dumb question, but does anyone know if it's possible to install and/or boot linux from an external (firewire/USB 2.0) hard drive? Booting from a floppy might work also, but I wanted to see if anyone had any experience with the subject before I laid out the $$.
Thanks for any advice,
Todd

As far as I know you cannot boot from a firewire device. I believe this is a firmware limitation and not a linux one.

Actually I think newer macs have an option to boot from firewire but I don't know if any x86 machines have that yet.
