Will Mandrake 8.2 run on my new computer
Im getting a new computer in the next few days with specs i will list in a minute, i just want to know if i can install mandrake onto it straight away or if any of the hardware will need special drivers that i will need to download, and if so can anyone give me links to them.
AMD XP1800+
Asus A7S333 (onboard CMI8738 audio... mmm..6 channels.....)
512MB DDR333
Seagate Baracuda IV 60gb 7200rpm
BTC 52/24/52 cd writer
pioneer 106/s2 16x DVD ROM (slot load)
Genius Optical Netscroll mouse
MS multimedia Keyboard (i know its microsoft but they make nice keyboards)
Gigabyte Radeon 8500pro 64mb vid card
Proview 17" flat screen monitor
Genius 4.1 surround speakers
Puretech PCI 56k modem (yes its a winmodem but ive enver had problems with them before)
unsure of brand on network card, probably based on that real common realtek chipset

The only problem you might have is getting your winmodem to work correctly. I don't see any other problems with your hardware.

install the newest version. 8.2 is old, 9.0 is new.

and to my knowledge ALSA doesnt have support for full surround speakers yet, so it will work just not as well as you may want

$100? I think linuxiso.com (or something like that) will mail it to you for like $2 (US) plus shipping

linuxiso is 9.75 for redhat 8.0 + 10 international shipping so 19.75 US, still like 21NZ - way cheaper
