    dns problem

    hey guys
    i'm facing a problem, i can browse normalyy all the pages, but if i trye to connect to an ftp site eg: it dosnt work but if i specify the ip insted of the www eg: ftp://212.45.345.6 it opens the page
    same thing is happening with irc, if i use the name of the server to connect to it dosn't work but if i specify the ip of the server it gets connected
    can somone pleas tell me what the problem might be

    Make sure your dns server ips are in /etc/resolv.conf

    check that port 53 is not blocked by any firewall ect u have
