you can run any distribution on it, and yes you can run a gui. You will just be tight for space is all. I had KDE running on a 233 with 16 megs of ram. Well, not running, walking sounds more like it. But it worked. And I did this in just under 500 megs of space. Took some black magic with the rpm database wanting all sorts of unneccesary crap, but still.

I'd suggest some older distribution, though, such as RedHat 7.1 or so, so that you don't get all the latest resource demanding applications.

I wouldn't suggest an older version. We installed RH 6.2 on an older server and had it rooted within the hour.

I;am a 266mhz-G3-128mb ram-4gb Hardisk ibook owner, I'am new to Linux and I wish to try it. Can I install Linux on my Ibook?. What version should I install?

Although it is possible to install it on an iBook, I really wouldn't recommend it if you're new. If you really want to try, try yellowdog linux.
