    I am new to linux installation, so could you pls tell me, what is the prequistes needed to go before installation, or pls give me some links from where i can learn all these things.

    There is dozen of docs about linux and his installation. Before installing it, don't forget to backup ur data. U're even have an Howto: http://en.tldp.org/HOWTO/Installation-HOWTO/ then choose a distro and read the docs from it.
    For example mandriva docs (not distro) is a good start: http://wwwnew.mandriva.com/en/commun.../documentation a lot of things are explained in the Command-line manual
