knoppix with sata
Im trying to install knoppix to my hard drive which is brand new with nothing on it. WHen i boot it shows it but then when i type the install command and go to the partition program it says no hard drive found. any suggestions on how to make it read. its a sata hard drive

Which program did you use to partition the hard drive? I think you can partition it with cfdisk if default program does not let you do it. Take a look at this thread, as it may be similar to your case (the same procedure).

i used cf
i used cfdisk and it said i couldnt write to the disk that it was read only and other ideas?

I am not sure why the drive is reported as read only. Try creating smaller partition (do not partition whole drive).
Otherwise, sorry, I do not know what else to suggest.
