    BIG DUAL BOOT PROBLEM

    Ok, here is the deal,

I just installed rh 8, and used a dual boot, with win xp on hda, and linux on hdb(shared with files on xp, but partitioned off)

I try to get into xp, through Grub, and this is what it tells me:

    Booting Win XP

    rootnoverfity (hd0, 0)
    chainloader +1

    error 25: Disk Read Error

    Hit any key to continue...

If anyone could help me asap, I have an essay to finish!!! pinch.gif

    Thanks,

That's really bad... It indicates a physical error on that partition. I don't know why it showed up now, but it might be that the ground for it has been there for a while and that the linux installation just triggered it, so to speak. As far as I know, there's not much to do.
Use OpenOffice to write your essay instead, at least in the meantime. I think you'll find it to your liking.
Try running (as root) "badblocks -vs /dev/hda1"
