what is an "error 24" message?
Not being able to boot, i did a partition check on my Mepis Linux. at the end it said run "fsck /dev/sda1" (without the -a,-e options) in the root terminal and when it finished, it said it was "clean".
i rebooted and 3 lines into the boot i get a "error 24" and no bootup. what the heck is this? i've googled but am not finding the answer.....

kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.15-1-586tsc root=/dev/sda1 nomce quiet vga=791
initrd /boot/initrd.img-2.6.15-1-586tsc

Go here to the GRUB manual and scroll down to the "error messages reported by GRUB" section to see what error 24 is:
http://www.gnu.org/software/grub/manual/grub.htmloz
