Win XP Pro and SuSE v 10.0 dual boot on a Compaq nw8240 laptop?
I am trying to dual boot Win XP pro and SUSE Ver 10 on a new Compaq nw8240 laptop to no success. The laptop is brand new out the box and I have FDISKed the partition it came with XP installed on it leaving a blank hard disk (with no partitions). On booting up with the SUSE CD1 in it, it hangs/stalls at the splash screen and goes no further. A similar things happens when booting up with a created FAT32 partition in FDISK.
I am new to Linux and have always been a Windows person so this is very nw to me. Any ideas?
Many thanks, Catriona

Well just a suggustion, install windows first to minimise MBR problems later. And did you burn the CD's at slow speeds 4-8x, any higher and you can have errors. Also did you check the MD5 of the download to make shure it wasn't corrupt?
