    hello ..

    i have a toshiba satellite .

    P3 600mhz
    64meg RAM
    40gig Hard Drive

    was curious if this was enough to run linux (some distro)

    would like some suggestions on what distro would be good for a beginner to try.

    Welcome to the forums!

    You could try something like Damn Small Linux. It's a live-cd but can be installed to the hard drive and works well on less powerful machines.
