questiion on hdparm
Hi,
I read an article on hdparm. I have a question regarding hdparm. I have a single 100 GB IDE hard disk in my computer. I have partitioned it so that WinXP is sitting on /dev/hda1 occupying 20 GB. hda2, 3,4 are free till now. hda5 is a 51 GB FAT32 data storage area. 22 GB is unallocated. I want to install Linux and Solaris 10 on the remaining 22 GB. i.e further partition into 2, 10 GB chunks. So if I use hdparm should I use it with /dev/hda or with /dev/hda2 /dev/hda3, etc. Will I lose data if I run hdparm on /dev/hda1 where XP is installed ?
Thanks
Shiladitya
