Need help w/ SuSE 10.1
I am familiar with SuSE as a user only. I'm learning, but for now I need to know why whenever I install SuSE 10.1 (I tried 3 times so far...) I am brought to a command line login. No gui. Sorry, but I am at the stage where I am lost without that at least!
Do I need to reinstall again, or is there a solution that will correct this?
I have been using 10.0 and the distro has allowed me to bang around and learn a lot, and with the very friendly install of 10.0, I was surprised that I am having difficulty with 10.1.
Any help appreciated. Thanks!

I had a similar problem with an old RM box when moving from SUSE 9.3 to 10.0. 9.3 would work fine but 10.0 would fail to bring up runlevel 5, so no GUI. I later used the box as a server with command line only so this was no longer a problem.
The only thing I can suggest atm is that you use "lspci" from the shell and try and spot what your graphics adapter is. Proceed with Googling the result to see if you can find any others with similar problems. You may be able to find an xorg.conf adjustment that may get it to work, or someone else may reply who has a better answer. The biggest security threat is the user.

You might also be able to boot with a Knoppix CD to see how your hardware is detected and while in it, check the xorg.conf file there, too.
