    Extremely unusual

    Hey, I want to turn my laptop into a asterisk server. It is well capable. But I don't have a CD-rom drive for it. So is there some way I could get linux onto a floppy. Download asterisk.iso from a server while on my laptop with the linux floppy and then install asterisk from that?

    Like make one 1GB partition for the asterisk.iso and then use the rest for the asterisk thing.

    Unfortunetly I believe asterisk would require a 1GB stick and I don't think my laptop has the ability to boot from USB..It is from the year 2000 where usb1.1 was high tech..

    Which laptop model is it?
    Does it has a Ethernet card/port?
    What is the size of the hard drive?

    It has ethernet 10/100, 10GB HDD, Gateway Solo 5300 Pent III700mhz 196mb ram. It has a modem

    Well you could "easily" install Linux booting from a USB, if you find a way to boot from USB.

    You can install Debian, Fedora, etc. (almost all distros) from USB.

    Maybe someone here as a better solution... (I'm sure there is a better solution.)

    I have windows on the laptop...Maybe I can resize the partition somehow and get to install asterisk from windows.
