NTFS partition is now of unknown type
Hi!
Sorry if this is in the wrong forum, as you can see though, I am a n00b
I have an orphaned partition on a HDD that shows up and unkown type although I know it is NTFS. What I want to know is that if I change it's type to NTFS in qtparted will it clobber all the data in it?

hmmm, why do you want to change it?
maybe qtparted doesnt know what ntfs is. (every file system has its own code so if the program dont know the code means ntfs it will show unknown)
check the manual or ask support if this will give any problems

Well, it can see me other NTFS partition correctly, so why not this one?
Anyway, I managed to solve my problem using testdisk running off a RIPLinux live CD.
