To my understanding, yum is the package management system of choice now over apt-get rpm in Fedora. I used to love apt-get rpm but now always use yum. There's a handy dandy front-end for yum called kyum which is similar to synaptic. For package management and updates, yum is all you'll ever need with Fedora.
