install on old laptop 512MB - possible??
I have an old Gateway 2000 Solo laptop that I have acquired. It is running Win 95, has 512MB hard drive space, and 24MB RAM. I have never used Linux, but had it recommended by a friend. If possibly I would like to completely format the hard drive and install Linux. Will this even be possible?
Thanks.

I think most distros are going to take more power than that, but maybe you could try running a live-cd such as Damn Small Linux (about 50 MB) on it to see how that works. If it runs, you should be fine to install it on the hard drive.
