I'm trying to compile the 2.6.10 kernel. Everything seems to be OK during compilation, but when I boot the system with this kernel I receive the following error:

Hi
I'm trying to compile the 2.6.10 kernel. Everything seems to be OK during compilation, but when I boot the system with this kernel I receive the following error:
FATAL: Could not load /lib/modules/2.6.10/modules.dep: No such file or directory
....
pivot_root: No such file or directory
/sbin/init: 432: cannot open /dev/console: No such file
Kernel panic - not syncing. Attempted to kill init.
I was looking forward solution but without success.
Maybe you could suggest me something. Thx for help.

Are you using grub or lilo ?
Could u tell us whats on them ??

I use the elilo bootloader on my server.

Could u post the details of your lilo file?
What kind of drives do u have running ... are they called hdx or sdx?
