    LCD panel problems

I am using a Dell Inspiron 2650, and I am having trouble with my X configurator; I have an XGA Liquid Crystal Display on my laptop, and none of the display options seem to work. What could I possibly be missing besides the monitor settings. I have called dell and after lying to them about what "software" I was trying to install I found that my XGA LCD screen is compatible with SVGA VGA and even non-interlaced SVGA monitors......but it still doesn't work.

When I had installed redhat 7.3(work forced me to) on my laptop, they had a multiple options for dell laptop displays that I had use. I am not sure what distro you are using but if it is redhat, I would check that out.

Just how doesn't it work? Do you get a black screen, a garbled screen, does the server terminate, is there anything in the log, etc.?

Can you post the last lines of the log? What driver are you using?
