I have made a fresh install on a new disk, but kept my old setup on the old disk so I can just add my old files and settings to the new installation.

A simple copy of one file to the next does not work. Most programs it seems need to be reinstalled and then I have to change/add my own settings as needed. Is there a simple way to do it?

My old disk have the following partitions:
/
/home
/usr
/var

New disk have only the root file system partitioned.
