new lycoris user with video q's
Just switched from Win2K to Lycoris Linux. Loving it so far but have a few questions. I have a Radeon 7500 and want to be able to use the TV out. I did some searching on google but didn't find anything useful. I had some questions about ntfs partitions but found the answers here by serching. Also, is there any way to play .mov and .wmv files?

you could try installing dreiver for the raedon card from the ATI site... see if they have them for your distro.
mplayer is great for playing just about anything

ATI's site had nothing for TV out and don't even have their own linux drivers for their cards. They did have a link to some guy who had gotten his rage card to work with TV out. Doesn't work with any other cards though.
I'll check out mplayer.

I heard the bttv module works with the 8500 (though I haven't tried it cause I don't have a tv with a SVideo in)
I respectfully decline the invitation to join your delusion.

It was supposed to be TV out, not in.
Anyway, I don't know that much about ATI cards, but I found this, which you might find interesting: http://www.stud.uni-hamburg.de/users...ects/atitvout/

I found that site before and am going to try it but since I'm a noob and will probably have trouble getting it to work I figured I ask to see if there was something a bit easier.

I looked at the XFree86 driver for the radeon, and it doesn't seem to have TV-out support built in for one or another reason. That site is probably your only resort.
