Need help choosing distro for older system

Hi there noob here. I have a newer dell laptop running ubuntu and winXP(microshaft sux!!!!) neway I also have a desctop with an AMD K6-2 500mhz, 192 mg ram, ati rage pro 128, 8gig hd and a 1 gig hd. rite now it has dsl but thats far to boring and minimal(and non user friendly) for me. I tried to install ubuntu from the live cd but it didnt work, it ran waaaaay slow and froze up when I told it to install. Im assuming that my pc is to old and slo for ubuntu. I am thinking 'bout xubuntu or bsd but am open to any suggestions. Any input would be appriciated.

Don't worry about it. You're not the first and you certainly won't be the last but while you're at it you might want to check out some of the other commonly asked questions:
